Our Kenya trip has been kept deliberately compact: we explore a varied program of nature parks, cultural cities and villages, and the coast — all transfers by minibus within a limited area. No domestic flights, but a rich and diverse travel experience. By working with a local travel agent and staying in locally run accommodations, we ensure our trip is not only sustainable in terms of CO2 emissions but also directly contributes to the local economy.

HIGHLIGHTS – EAST KENYA ROAD TRIP
Our East Kenya journey starts and ends in the lovely coastal town of Diani, close to the coastal city of Mombasa and about an hour’s drive from the airport. At a comfortable resort you can settle in after your journey to Kenya — get used to the temperature, feel the white sand beneath your feet, and enjoy the sunset under the palm trees.
The next day we head inland to Kwale, where a stay at the Deaf Centre gives you a unique local experience. Here we also learn about the SPAT project, a remarkable initiative that trains deaf Kenyans to become sports instructors.
Shimba Hills Forest Reserve offers your first real African experience: a walking safari where you come face to face with large wildlife. Our local guide ensures it’s both safe and unforgettable.
Forget the safari bus — hop on the back of a motorbike and feel the freedom of the Kenyan countryside. This is how you truly get to know Kenya.

No visit to Kenya is complete without encountering the Maasai. We go back to basics in their village and experience the unique way of life of this remarkable community.
After these memorable days, we’ve reached the halfway point of the East Kenya trip — and it’s time to relax with a wonderful rest day on the Kenyan coast.

After the rest day we first take you on a snorkeling adventure off the coast. We’ll also visit a one-of-a-kind restaurant that no East Kenya road trip should miss.
Then it’s time for some serious safari adventures.
We spend a night at the spectacular Salt Lick Safari Lodge, which overlooks a waterhole where you can observe animals up close. In the evenings and mornings you have an excellent chance of spotting various wildlife at close range.
We also visit Tsavo West National Park. This wildlife park offers a completely different landscape and safari experience. On a clear day you can even spot Kilimanjaro on the horizon!
With your Big Five photos in hand (almost guaranteed!), you head back to the coast. Your last day is yours: relax or go on one more adventure. That evening we close the trip in style — dining on the water at a magical floating restaurant.
And then it’s time to say “Kwaheri.”
(Kwaheri is Swahili for “Goodbye” — or rather, “Until we meet again.”)
